Four kidnapped crew members free

The four crew members who were kidnapped from the 'Agisilaos' in the Gulf of Guinea in late November were released, it was announced on Jan 9, 2021, by the shipping company, Vangelis Marinakis. The ship was hijacked on Nove 29 while crossing the Gulf of Guinea off the coast of Lomo, They were now safe and will undergo further medical examinations. The local authorities will be informed and then they will return to their families, where they will continue to receive full support. The Capital Ship Management thanked all those involved in securing their release. Due to the sensitive nature of the incident, there will be no further updates.

Tanker attacked by pirates

Armed pirates attacked the 'Agisilaos' in the night of Nov 29, 2020, in Ghanaian waters 75 nautical miles south of Lome. The pirates managed to get on board. The AIS transmitter showed that the ship suddenly changed course and speed, and then made evasive maneuvers. Still, the pirates managed to get on board. The pirates kidnapped four crew, including Filipino, Romanian and Russian nationalities, and fled. The tanker dropped anchor on Nov 30 at 4.40 a.m. off Lome in pos. 06° 4.08' N 001° 18.90' E.
