Ferry evacuated after fire

The "Al Fayrouz" issued a distress signal on April 8, 2019, in the Red Sea about 60 miles west of Farasan island, Saudi Arabia, after a fire had broken out short past midnight. The distress signal was received at 2.40 p.m. via INMARSAT by the MRCC France and redirected to the MRCC Jeddah. The Saudi Arabian Navy deployed the patrol vessel "Al-Ashiq", also a boat from the Saudi Border Guard assisted. All 31 crew members, 27 of Egyptian nationality, two of Indian nationality and two of Sudanese nationality, were evacuated without injures and taken to Jazan at 3.35 p.m. where medical care was provided. The ship was adrift in the vicinity of position 16 15 N 041 04 E. It was full alight and destroyed by the fire in the following hours. IT was en route from Suez port to Djibouti.
