Lubricating system defect off Selsey Bill

On Jan 9, 2020, at 9.40 p.m. the 'Amon', while en route Stellendam to Freetown, ETA Jan 30, had a restricted manoeuvrability at a speed of 6,9 knots due a lubricating system defect in position 50 37 28 N, 000 27 52 W, about 17 miles southeast of Selsey Bill. The vessel was underway with a towed barge. The DCPSO has been advised, and Southampton VTS has been contacted. The crew intended to anchor in position 50 40 00 N, 000 36 59 W, 8,66 miles southeast of Selsey Bill to wait for the engine to cool down and then carry out repair works.

Just after continuing the westbound voyage, the Finnish Eco coaster newbuilding "Eeva VG", 3690 gt (IMO: 9769104), being under tow from Szczecin to Bodewes Shipyard in Papenburg for completion for the Meriaura Gruup, and actually being towed by the "Amon" and the "Moritz" (MMSI: 211118520) as assisting stern tug during the transit of the Kiel Canal, allided with the gate of a lock in Brunsbüttel on Apr 20, 2016, at 2.30 p.m. The convoy was held within the lock for investigations and continued on its way only at 4.10 p.m.

Allision in Holtenau

In the morning of Apr 18, 2016, the Eco coaster newbuilding "Eeva VG" (IMO: 9769104), being under tow from Szczecin to Bodewes Shipyard in Hoogezand for completion by the tug "Amon" with the "Zeus" as stern tug, allided with the tail of the locks of the Kiel Canal in Holtenau upon entering the lock chamer. The master of the "Zeus" could avoid an allision of the bow with the wall and got the ship back under control soon. The hull suffered scrapes above the water line.
