Casualty towed to Tuzla
After its arrival on March 15, the 'Fortune' has completed its cargo discharge operation at Zonguldak. The Harbour Master granted the vessel towing approval and departure permission. The tug 'Ayazbey' (IMO: 7531670) was tasked to tow the ship to Tuzla for repairs. The convoy arrived on March 21 at 7.30 a.m. During the Istanbul Strait passage, a coastal safety tug provided escort service for the vessel and the Strait traffic.
Fortune abandoned off Şile
The 'Fortune', enroute from Tuzla to Bartin, suffered an engine failure off Şile in the Eastern Bosphorus in the afternoon of March 12, 2021. She dropped anchor Off Riva point with a risk of capsizing. No pollution or injury was reported. The extent of engine and structural damage was unknown at this stage. A tug and two rescue boats were deployed by the Kıyı Emniyeti Genel Müdürlüğü (KEGM) to the ship. All crew members were evacuated. The ship was listing to port side and sitting low in the water. On March 15 the tug 'Ayaz Bey' towed the vessel to Zonguldak, where the convoy arrived in the evening. A dmage survey will be carried out after discharge operations.
