Grounding off Barranquilla

The 'AS Filippa' ran aground on Feb 18, 2020, when entering the access channel to Barranquilla upon its arrival from Cartagena. The ship got stuck when it got outside the naivgable channel during a turning manoever at 12.30 p.m. and was refloated with the help of three tugs two hours later. The ship traffic at the accident site was suspended for some time. The vessel resumed the voyage towards Barranquilla and berthed at the SPRB Container Terminal at 7.45 p.m. The port captain opened an investgation. Wind speeds of 55 kilometers per hour with waves heights of three meters could have contributed to the accident. Sedimentation problems were ruled out in the Bocas de Ceniza sector which has a registered depth of 13 meters.
