Allision in the Kiel Canal
On Nov 5, 2018, at 7.20 a.m. the "Backer", enroute from Rødbyhavn to Eemshavn allided with a piling during the westbound transit of the Kiel Canal at the switch in Dückerswisch. The impact was with normal travel speed, and the master as well as a mechanic suffered injuries and had to be hospitalized in Heide. The third man remained uninured. The vessel berthed in Hochdonn short time later, while the police in Brunsbüttel launched an investigation.
