Collision one day after leaving repair port

Sat Feb 15 21:10:14 CET 2020 Timsen

One day after the 'Bonita' left Rotterdam upon completion of repairs of its grounding damage, the ship was in collision with the self propelled, tank barge 'Noordereiland' 665 ts (EU-No.: 03270717), in the night of Feb 13, 2020, at the Houtrib lock in Lelystad. The vessel entered the lock but failed to get the engine in reverse, thereupon hitting the tanker which was coming from Amsterdam. Also the lock gate was hit and severely damaged in the accident. No injuries were reported. Both ships were banned from sailing by the Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate (ILT) for investigatons. A defect on the 'Bonita' probably was the cause of the collision. The 'Noordereiland' berthed near the Princess-Beatrix-Locks at Nieuwegein on Feb 15. The freighter left Lelystad on Feb 20 at 7.35 a.m., headed to Grimsby with an ETA as of Feb 21, 1 p.m. The tank barge sailed again on Feb 16 and has been berthed in Gertruidenberg. Bonita refloated

Tue Jun 25 21:28:39 CEST 2019 Timsen

On June 25 at 6 p.m. the "Bonita" could finally be pulled off the rocks in the Lurö archipelago where she grounded a little more than a week ago. The ship was towed to the port of Hällekis north of Lidköping in Västergötland and berthed at 7.55 p.m. In the run of the day the cargo of animal food had been lightered while ballast was pumped in for the ship to remain stable. After the cargo holds were empty, the ballast could be pumped out and the "Bonita" refloated. The holes in the hull did not cause problems during the passage over Vänern, pumps coped with the water ingress. The Swedish authorities liaised with insurance companies and the vessels's owner to decide what will happen next. For the time being, the Swedish Transport Agency issued a sailing ban. The vessel berthed in Rotterdam on July 4 where it remained stationary in Bolnes since.
