Shortly after boarding the coal ship "Orient Venus", an Israeli Navy boat met up with the ship and arrested the activists, because according to maritime law, vessels are prohibited from entering a nation's naval territory with unidentified passengers on board. The activists were subsequently released, after being questioned by the police. The ship berthed at Hadera.

CAPE MIRON 9545168

Thu Jul 08 12:42:58 CEST 2010 Timsen

Greenpeace-activists boarded the „Orient Venus“ in the morning of July 8, 2010, in order to keep the coal carrier from entering a port in Israel to protest against the construction of a coal plant in Aschkelot. They entered a mast and fixed a poster with the words “Coal kills”. A ship of the Israel Navy is on scene.
