SAR ship tasked to recover semi-sunken fishing vessel
The fishing boat 'Bahía de La Isleta', whose skipper was trapped in the wreck and died on Nov 10, 2022, was recovered by the 'Clara Campoanor' in Níjar. The Almería Maritime Captaincy has coordinated the salvage. Salvamento Marítimo mobilized its special operations groups, divers experienced in the matter and placed some balloons to give the boat more buoyancy. The 'Clara Campoamor'moved to the area to place another balloon in the stern area to try to make the entire boat emerge . The fishing gear hooked from the bottom to the boat itself was cut off and left at the bottom for the moment, but it will be collected. The 'Salvamar Algenib' then took the wreck in tow to the 'Clara Campoamor'. As the wind made this operation complicated, it was decided to go to Cabo de Gata to be able to shelter from the weather.
