Both Oslo-Kiel ferries delayed due to IT trouble

The "Color Magic" and the "Color Fantasy" were unable to depart from Kiel and Oslo on time on Jan 5, 2026.. The reason were IT problems at the shipping company Colorline, which affected ship operations. Due to the system error, passengers could only pay in cash on board and also reported problems with the check-in. Passengers were also informed via loudspeaker that only cash payments were currently being accepted on board. The staff worked feverishly to resolve the issue. Both ships were originally scheduled to leave Kiel and Oslo at 2:00 p.m. However, the "Color Magic" remained fully loaded and waiting at the dock in Kiel throughout the afternoon. After the system malfunction was resolved, it was able to depart at 5:10 p.m. The "Color Fantasy" remained in Oslo untol 5.30 p.m. A delay in Oslo and simultaneously in Kiel is unprecedented. It was not yet clear whether a hacker attack or sabotage of the IT system was the cause. The cause was currently being investigating. Medevac on Kiel Fjord

On Dec 13, 2025, a 30-year-old crew memver of the ' Colir Fantasy' sustained serious injuries on board the ferry. At approximately 2:15 p.m., the The vessel had just left the Kiel Fjord and was en route to Oslo. The lifeboat ' Hans Hackmack', currently stationed in Laboe, was mobilised. About 600 meters off Laboe, the SAR boat came alongside the "Color Fantasy." The patient transfer went smoothly in relatively calm seas with wave heights of only about half a meter and a moderate breeze of force four from the west. Meanwhile, the DGzRS, in consultation with a paramedic from the Johanniter (St. John Ambulance) at the medical workstation in the MRCC, requested both the land-based ambulance service and a rescue helicopter. In the port of Laboe, the sea rescuers first transferred the seriously injured woman to the ambulance. The rescue helicopter then airlifted her to a specialized hospital.

Ferry damaged in allision in Oslo

On June 29 at around 9 a.m. the 'Color Fantasy', en route from Kiel allided with the quay of the terminal in Oslo, when it was due to dock. The incident was caused by strong, gusty winds and was being investigated. There was some damage at starboard side above the waterline such as abrasions and dents.
