A passanger aboard the 'Color Fantasy', en route from Oslo to Kiel, fell ill and needed to be medevaced in Danish waters in the night of Sep 15, 2021. Ferry laid up due to corona crisis
Color Line has decided to reduce the capacity on the Oslo-Kiel route and will lay up the 'Color Fantasy' until the corona infection situation and the authorities' travel restrictions have changed. This means that Color Line was sending another 400 employees home. The reduced timetable will be introduced from Nov 4, when the 'Color Magic' will sail on the route in an adapted timetable with goods and passengers. Passengers can only buy a return ticket from Oslo without the possibility of going ashore in Kiel. "Unfortunately, the reduction in capacity is once again necessary, and it is crucial that the government and the Storting come up with compensation schemes both in the autumn and next year," said the CEO Trond Kleivdal of Color Line. A total of 1,000 employees of the Color Line have now been sent home, while a further 300 employees have resigned, mainly through voluntary schemes. Fjord Line announced that the routes Bergen-Hirtshals and Langesund-Hirtshals will be closed down for the rest of the year.
