Ferry delayed due to propulsion issues
During the crossing from Kiel to Oslo, a propulsion system issue arose during the night of March 14, 2026. A drop in power occurred near the Danish island of Anholt. Consequently, the voyage to Oslo had to be continued at reduced speed. Since then, the crew has been working to resolve the fault, while the ship was underway. Unfortunately, this wa resulting in delays. Neither the ship's maneuverability nor its safety has been compromised by the repairs. The ferry requires full propulsion power particularly when traversing the Great Belt and the Kattegat. The reason for this is the currents, which can be quite strong in these areas. Consequently, the ferry often travels at speeds of around 20 knots in these waters. If the engine plant is unable to deliver this level of performance, the scheduled arrival times in both Kiel and Oslo can quickly be pushed back by one to two hours. For the cruise passengers on board, this results in significantly shorter shore excursions at the ports of call. For this reason, the 'Color Magic' did not arrive in Kiel on May 15 until 11:30 a.m., rather than the scheduled 10:00 a.m. Priority was being given to the unloading and loading of the ferry. This process was managed in cooperation with the crew from Sartori & Berger in Kiel, ensuring that the scheduled departure time of 2:00 p.m. could still be met. The arroval time has since been changed to 11 a.m. in general, and 12.30 p.m. on May 23.

A medical emergency occurred on the "Color Magic", sailing between Kiel and Oslo, north of Kalundborg in the Great Belt on the evening of March 24, 2026. Both Oslo-Kiel ferries delayed due to IT trouble
The "Color Magic" and the "Color Fantasy" were unable to depart from Kiel and Oslo on time on Jan 5, 2026.. The reason were IT problems at the shipping company Colorline, which affected ship operations. Due to the system error, passengers could only pay in cash on board and also reported problems with the check-in. Passengers were also informed via loudspeaker that only cash payments were currently being accepted on board. The staff worked feverishly to resolve the issue. Both ships were originally scheduled to leave Kiel and Oslo at 2:00 p.m. However, the "Color Magic" remained fully loaded and waiting at the dock in Kiel throughout the afternoon. After the system malfunction was resolved, it was able to depart at 5:10 p.m. The "Color Fantasy" remained in Oslo until 5.30 p.m. A delay in Oslo and simultaneously in Kiel is unprecedented. It was not yet clear whether a hacker attack or sabotage of the IT system was the cause. The cause was currently being investigating.
