Com R released by Egypt as licensed security ship

Sun Apr 07 15:37:30 CEST 2013 odinfm

As expected (read http://www.news.odin.tc/index.php?page=view/article/291/A-mess-of-arms-vessels-syria-piracy-iran-security-egypt-ukraine-us-uk-ak47-russia), detained in Egypt vessel Com R with arms on board, was found to be what it claimed it was – a private security ship, licensed for having arms on board. Egyptian authorities released a ship loaded with heavy weapons and its crew three days after they were seized for entering Egyptian territorial waters in the Red Sea, two security sources told Reuters on Apr 7 13. "We let them go on Saturday after we confirmed that the ship belongs to an international security firm for ships and the weapons are used for security," one source said. The crew confirmed to consist of 14 people, with presumably, Russia, Ukraine, US and UK nationalities.

Egypt seizes ship carrying arms

Fri Apr 05 09:21:49 CEST 2013 arnekiel

Egyptian navy forces seized a ship carrying heavy weapons as it entered Egyptian territorial waters in the Red Sea late on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, a military spokesman said on Thursday. The Togolese-flagged ship, called COM R, was found 12 nautical miles north of Ras Muhammad in the Sinai Peninsula, general staff spokesman Ahmed Mohamed Ali said on his Facebook page. "Inside they found a number of weapons and quantities of ammunition of various types," Ali said. "The boat belongs to a private maritime security company which serves to secure ships passing through highly dangerous areas, especially in light of the spread of piracy in the southern Red Sea area and off the Somali coast," he added.
