Bulk carrier towed to Chattogram
The 'Common Calypso' arrived off Chattogram on Feb 12, 2026. The ship had suffered a main engine problem on Jan 11 In the Indian Ocean and was drifting 10 nautical miles east of the Salomon Islands, Indian Ocean, en route from Santos to Chittagong with a cargo of soy beans, The salvage company Tsavliris was contracted to assista and mobilised the 'Boka Alpine', which took the bulk carrier in tow on Jan 14. During the voyage, the tow connection had to be replaced due to damage caused by yawing. The casualy was finally anchored on Jan 26 at Hambantota Port, in pos. 22° 16' N 091° 42' E, where it remained stationary as of April 7.
