Grounding off Oxelösund

Tue May 17 10:43:35 CEST 2022 Timsen

in the evening of May 12, 2022, the 'Diana' ran aground outside Oxelösund in Södermanland. The bow was resting on a rock. was breached and took in water. The ship had a slight list to starboard side. Pumping was in progress. The situation was currently assessed as stable, and no pollution has been observed. There were three cubic meters of diesel on board in two separate tanks. The Swedish Sea Rescue evacuated passengers and crew. They have been taken to the pilot station Brandviken. There were 25 passengers and 14 crew members on board, no injuries were reported. The Swedish Coastguard deployed the patrol boat 'KBV 410' (MMSI: 265612620) to the grounding site, and two additional units were semt tp the scene. A surveillance aircraft of the Coast Guard did not detect any pollution in the area. A preliminary investigation has been initiated, which is currently led by the Coast Guard. The shipping company sent divers on site who repaired the hole in the hull temporarily during the night, so that the pumps on the ship were able to remove the water that had got in. The 'Diana' arrived in Stockholm on May 14 at 12.50 p.m. after the tug 'Leif' had pulled it out. The ship proceeded with own power to the Tenö shipyard outside Vaxholm after the salvage.
