Anchor loss in Piraeus
The Vessel Traffic Control Center (V.T.S.) of the Central Port Authority of Piraeus was informed on Oct 25, 2023, at noon by the Master of the 'Dionysios Solomos' about the loss of the port side anchor during the process of securing it. The vessel ihad set sail from the port of Piraeus for a scheduled route to the ports of Kythnos, Serifos, Sifnos, Milos, Kimolos, Folegandros, Sikinos, Ios and Thiras with 164 passengers on board. The ferry returned safely to the port of Piraeus after the loss, and upon presentation of a certificate of seaworthiness by the monitoring classification society, it was allowed to carry out its scheduled route.
Crew member injured on board
On Dec 30, 2022, at noon the Central Port Authority of Piraeus was informed that a cabin pilot of the 'Dionisios Solomos', which was docked at the port of Piraeus, was injured on board. A preliminary investigation was carried out by the relevant Port Authority.
Mooring cable fouled propeller
The Port Authority of Folegandros was informed in the morning hours of Dec 18, 2022, by the Master of the 'Dionisios Solomos' that during the mooring process at the Folegandros wharf, the starboard side propeller was jammed by a mooring rope. The ship was on a scheduled route from the port of Thira to the ports of Ios, Sikinos, Folegandros, Kimolos, Milos, Sifnos, Serifos, Kythnos and Piraeus with 178 passengers on board. A diver was called and freed the cable from the starboard shaft. The departure of the ship was prohibited until the presentation of a certificate of seaworthiness from the monitoring classification society.
