Containers with nitric acid damaged in storm
The "Dong Fang Fu", enroute from Shanghai to Taichung, was caught in rough weather in the East China Sea. Six tank containers with nitric acid shifted and were battered in severe pitch and roll. The container ship changed course and arrived at Keelung port in the night of Sep 14, 2017. Afer it was berthed, crew members smelled acid smell early in the morningand and immediately alerted the authorities. Chemical factory technicians were called to treat the leakage. No injures reported, the acid didn’t leak overboard. The ship sailed from Keelung on Sep 15, bound for Taichung where the tank containers were to be offloaded following a thorough clean up.
