Medevac off Cotentin

Wed Oct 20 10:51:49 CEST 2021 Timsen

In the morning of Oct 19, 2021, the CROSS Jobourg was informed by the 'Flevogracht', which was anchored east of Cotentin in pos. 49° 30.93' N 001° 01.54' W, en route from Antwerp to Lagos, that one of the crew members got hurt. The CROSS then initiated a conference call with the maritime medical consultation center of Toulouse and the SAMU of Le Havre. A medical evacuation of the sailor was recommended. The CROSS immediately deployed a Caiman helicopter of the Navy base in Maupertus with a medical team of the Querqueville army health service on board which was dropped off aboard the 'Flevogracht' and carried out an initial medical check-up and prepared the injured for the medevac. He was hoisted aboard the helicopter and then transferred to the hospital in Le Havre where he was taken care of by medical teams.
