Crew member tested positive for COVID-19

Tue Sep 01 11:25:19 CEST 2020 Timsen

A crew member on the H"Fridtjof Nansen" has tested positive for the coronavirus after returning to the Philippines on Aug 26, 2020. The ship is currently leased to "Mission Impossible 7". The entire rest of the crew has tested negative for COVID-19 after the person left the ship on Aug 25. In accordance with Hurtigruten's routines, the crew was tested once again on Aug 31. They were in ongoing dialogue with the National Institute of Public Health (NIPH), which recommended that the operation of the ship continues as normal. The vessel is currently berthed at the quay in Hellesylt, where the ship has been leased to the production company «True North», which is behind the new «Mission Impossible» film and has been informed about the positive test.

Four crew members showed mild symptoms during last voyage

Fri Aug 07 11:25:04 CEST 2020 Timsen

On Aug 7, 2020, the 'Fridtjof Nansen' docked at the Africa Terminal in Hamburg. Because of the Corona crisis, it was the last cruise for the time being. Originally the ship was supposed to leave the same day with new guests, but this and the following trip have been canceled. 171 German guests had undertaken the 15-day trip along the Norwegian coast. They were accompanied by 162 crew members. All crew members and 168 guests were tested on Covid-19 and all tests came back negative, so all guests were able to leave the ship. During the voyage, four crew members had shown mild cold symptoms. Three passengers had declined the test and were now going to self-quarantine. After the coronavirus outbreak on its cruise ship "Roald Amundsen", Hurtigruten is no longer offering trips on its three expedition ships for the time being. Both in Norway and outside Norwegian waters, all cruises with the "Roald Amundsen" and the ships "Fridtjof Nansen" and "Spitsbergen" will be stopped until further notice.
