Llarge contingents, with specialized equipment for firefighting on board ships were mobilized after a tractor unit on the upper deck, had caught fire. A trailer was coupled to the tractor, carrying another tractor, a truck, and a car. The ship's crew reacted immediately and directed two C-hoses at the smoking tractor. When the fire department arrived with more than 40 firefighters, the fire was already put out, and the fire fighters carried out a follow-up check to ensure that there was no further danger. They monitored the temperature and observed the cooling process, which continued for some time, The affected deck was completely loaded with vehicles, sso that things could have become even worse. Due to the good trained crew, the firefighters were able to leave the scene after just under an hour.
Cocaine thought to be from Grimaldi ship seized in Antwerp
A load of cocaine was seized on March 16, 2023, most likely origninating from the 'Grande Argentina', which was berthed in the port of Antwerp at quay 1333. Customs described it as a considerable batch, but did not specify an exact number of the about several hundred kilos. The seizure was based on suspicious acts. Customs then proceeded to check two vans in which the cocaine was found. The seizure is reminiscent of the kidnapping of Mo “De Skull" A. from Wilrijk at the end of February from a parking lot along the E19 in Rumst after a batch of 1 ton of cocaine had disappeared. The batch had also entered the country at aboard one of the Grimaldi ships docking at quay 1333.
