Cargo ship arrested off Aarhus

Thu Jan 10 18:52:13 CET 2019 Timsen

15 sailors from four countries have been stranded aboard the "HHL Amur" since Dec 19, 2018. The officers come from Russia and Ukraine, while the privates are from Poland and Philippines. The ship is anchored in pos. 56° 7.68' N 010° 17.13' E in the bay of Aarhus and has been arrested in connection with its owner - the German shipping company Hansa Heavy Lift - having gone bankrupt. Both the Danish Maritime Authority and the ITF have been on board the ship to ensure that there were enough provisions and the crew conditions and various insurances in order. It has been confirmed that everyone has been paid wages for December. The "HHL Amur" was on its way from Tema to Aarhus when Hansa Heavy Lift went bankrupt on Dec 11. On Dec 19, the ship arrived at Aarhus to unload. The company was constructive and cooperative and fully aware of the crew and that the conditions were in order.
