Tanker rescued 38 migrants after days on sea
On Sep 3, 2025, at noon, the Port Authorities of Agia Galini, Kala Limeni, Chora Sfakia and Paleochora were informed by the Unified SAR Center (EKSED) of the Coastal Maritime Police about a boat with 38 people on board, among them 35 men and three minors, in a difficult situation, in the sea area 51.8 nautical miles southeast of the island of Gavdos. They were picked up by the "High Fidelity", which was nearby on its way from Algeciras to Aqaba. The Italian Coast Guard and the 'P.04 Osum' of the Guardia di Finanza, which was participating in a patrol mission in the Aegean Sea, collaborated in coordinating the operation. d'Amico tankers completes sale and leaseback deal for Tanker "High Fidelity"
Product tanker specialist d'Amico International Shipping S.A. (Borsa Italiana: DIS) reports that its operating subsidiary d'Amico Tankers D.A.C. (Ireland) has signed a memorandum of agreement and bareboat charter contract for the sale and leaseback of the MT High Fidelity, a 49,990 dwt medium-range product tanker vessel, built in 2014 by Hyundai-Vinashin Shipyard Co. Ltd. for a consideration of $ 27.0 million. The company says that the transaction allows d'Amico Tankers to generate around US$ 11.2 million in cash, net of commissions and reimbursement of the vessel's existing loan, contributing to the liquidity required to complete DIS' fleet renewal program and allowing the company to benefit from the anticipated market recovery.
