Officer left Navy ship after sexual assault

Mon May 18 09:20:20 CEST 2020 Timsen

The Koninklijke Marechaussee was investigating reports of a sex crime on board the Zr. Ms. 'Karel Doorman'. A naval officer was accused of sexually assaulting a sailor. At least two other sailors also came forward to report him. The Koninklijke Marechaussee, a policing force that works as part of the Dutch military, confirmed that an investigation was launched. The ship has been providing coronavirus assistance in the Caribbean since the start of April. Sources on board the ship said that a male officer sexually assaulted a sailor over the weekend May May 9/10m 2020. The sailor reported the incident and two Marechaussee officers were sent to investigate and take statements. Their presence prompted two other sailors to come forward. They reported that the officer involved previously harassed them too, but they did not report him at the time. The Royal Navy initially decided to keep all involved working on the ship because the officer involved was essential to the progress of the mission. On May 13, however, he decided to leave the ship along with the Marechaussee. Colleagues took over his tasks until a replacement from the Netherlands has arrived.

Fleet Cleaner completes first ship hull cleaning

Thu Feb 09 09:12:14 CET 2017 arnekiel

Feb 08, 2017 - In December 2016, Fleet Cleaner successfully completed its first hull cleaning trial by cleaning the HNLMS Karel Doorman, the largest vessel of the Royal Netherlands Navy. In the Dutch port of Den Helder the company Fleet Cleaner has removed the fouling of the vessel by using its innovative ship hull cleaning ROV. The operation was unique since both under- and above water cleaning was performed by the robot. Due to loading and unloading, up to 20% of the fouled surface can be above the waterline in port. http://www.yourshipbuildingnews.com/fleet+cleaner+completes+first+ship+hull+cleaning_139956.html
