Ferry suffered issue with hydraulic pipe coupling
On April 10, the 'Isle of Islay', serving on the route Oban - Castlebay, suffered an issue with the hydraulic pipe coupling, which required repairs. After the issue has been resolved and the vessel operated as normal again.
Ferry suffered power management problem
The 'Isle of Islay', due to operate on the route Kennacraig - Islay, was undergoing the final entry to service inspections and trials from March 27-29. The sea trials were necessary to fix a problem with the power management system as well as a number of snagging issues before it enters service on the Islay route on March 30 at the ealiest. A specialist engineer has been brought in to investigate an engine management system fault, and other snagging issues were also being looked at. As a result, the ferry 'Finlaggan' was operating a single vessel timetable during this time. The 'Isle of Islay' was due to enter service on March 31. Witin a phased entry to service, the following additional sailings were offered on April 1: Departure Port Askaig 11:10 a.m.M; Departure Kennacraig 03:30 p.m.; Departure Port Askaig 06:05 p.m.; Arrival Kennacraig 08:00 p.m.
Ferry delayed due to repairs in dock
The new CalMac ferry 'Isle of Islay had to delay its passenger debut and was now not due to sail on the Islay route until at least March 30. Thr brand new ferry was in dock for repairs, two days before it is due to enter passenger service for the first time. It finally left Greenock on March 25, enroute to Port Askaig with an ETA as of March 26.
