Laid up ferry broke lose in storm
On June 16, 2021, the 'Hasan Şişik', which was anchored in the sea area of Kartal, broke lose from its moorings in stormy weather and drifted onto the cargo m/v 'Boras' (IMO: 8202963), which was laid up too and had drifted aground. The tug 'Kurtarma 2' and the lifeboat 'Kiyem 2' were immediately sent to the scene by the Coastal Safety Direction and pulled the roro ferry back to the Tuzla anchorage. The ship has been waiting for two months to go for maintenance. Damage was estimated to be 200-300.000 dollars by the owner.
