KANAWHA 8704080

Fri Sep 30 13:42:55 CEST 2011 GighaLad

Arrived in the Clyde, Scotland for NATO exercise.

KANAWHA 8704080

Sat Nov 20 17:43:11 CET 2010 Timsen

The Canadian navy frigate HMCS "Fredrickton" was headed for a Florida port on Nov 19, 2010, to assess damage after it hit the "Kanawha" during a joint training exercise. No one was injured when HMCS "Fredericton" and USNS "Kanawha" scraped during a routine manoeuvre east of Miami on Nov 18 night. They were just about to go into a replenishment at sea when the two vessels touched. The damage was superficial incl. some dents and scrapes. After a basic inspection, HMCS "Fredericton" was able to continue on with the exercise overnight before steaming toward Port Everglades, Fla., for a scheduled stop. She was carrying a full crew of 225 but was without a helicopter unit at the time it hit the U.S. navy vessel. USNS "Kanawha" was returning to its home base in Virginia on Nov 19.
