Tanker adrift off Slite

Thu Jan 25 15:05:30 CET 2018 Timsen

Enroute from Aarhus, where she had sailed on Jan 22, 2018, to Turku the "Kaprifol" encountered engine problems off Slite on Jan 24. The ship a requested a tug to assist after the attempt to drop anchor had failed in rough seas. The anchor was dragging in winds between 18-20 m/sec. The Swedish Coastguard deployed the "Triton - KBV 002" (IMO: 9380453) which managed to pull the tanker to a safe anchorage off Aminne near Slite in pos. 7 37 06.65N, 18 51 07.03E in the evening. On Jan 25 the wind was expected to decrease so that technicians may investigate the engine problem during the day. The "Triton" remained on standby during the day. after weather improvement and troubleshooting. The ship resumed the voyage on Jan 25, ETA Turku Jan 26, 11 p.m. Swedish report with photo: https://www.kustbevakningen.se/sakerhet-till-sjoss/nyhetsarkiv/fartyg-utanfor-slite-bogserat/ http://www.helagotland.se/blaljus/webb-tv-kustbevakningen-det-var-ratt-grov-sjo-15046604.aspx
