Freighter remains aground

Thu Dec 06 10:23:36 CET 2018 Timsen

The "Kasra 1" remained aground on Makhachkala Roads on Dec 6. On Dec 4, the tug "Favorit" had conducted works to refloat the vessel, but the operations were then suspended, due to bad weather. The Russian tug "Epron" was standing by at the port of Makhachkala to assist if required. The ship was refloated and proceeded to the port of Makhachkala on Dec 7.

The "Kasra 1" was moored 3.2 cables from the shoreline, with 2.5 metres of water below the keel. The cargo ship had arrived at Makhachkala Anchorage on Nov 26, coming from Aktau in Kazakhstan.
