7500t rail tracks for Lüderitz arrived with Carola
A consignment of 7500 tons of railway tracks is being currently offloaded from cargo ship 'Carola' in the port of Walvis Bay, and is destined for Namibia’s southern region to complete the remaining 70 kilometers of railway line between Halenberg and Lüderitz. The consignment represents a total of 3897 loose tracks, each weighing 1.7 tons. KLD Shipping is the agent while the discharge operation is headed by Namibia Stevedoring Services. Once completed, businesses and residents of the southern fishing town can again enjoy railway service, while business could unlock import- and export opportunities through the port of Lüderitz. The rail tracks were manufactured in Austria and shipped in Koper.
