In the evening of April 21 a fire broke out in the engine room of the 'Koegelwieck', serving between Harlingen and the islands of Terschelling and Vlieland. The KNRM of Terschelling and Vlieland were called for assistance. The ship was timewise adrift, but then resumed the voyage. The fire was brought under control, and the ferry was safely moored in the port of Terschelling at 7 p.m. where the fire brigade of Vlieland was ready to assist. The 'Koegelwieck' carried 99 passengers none of whom was injured. They were safely disembarked after the arrival. Grounding in Wadden Sea

Wed Jan 09 19:01:08 CET 2019 Timsen

The "Koegelwieck" ran aground in the afternoon of Jan 9, 2019, in the Wadden Sea. The ship had sailed from Terschelling at 4.15 p.m. bound to Harlingen, but it ran aground while following a bend in the fairway four miles south of Terschelling at the Slenk Bay. The ship had 82 passengers and six crew members on board when it ran aground outside the fairway at the S15 buoy. Three tugs from Noordgat successfully provided assistance and refloated the ship at 6 p.m. Also the lifeboat "Arie Visser" of the KNRM station West-Terschelling was on the spot. After the ferry was in deep water again, it proceeded with own power and berthed in Harlingen at 6.30 p.m. and will be inspected at the quay. Three sailings between Harlingen and Terschelling between 5.20 p.m. and 8.20 p.m. have been canceled.
