Oil company donated fuel to abandnoed cargo ship

Tue Aug 18 12:18:03 CEST 2020 Timsen

Thanks to a Sardinian oil company, which donated six tons of diesel, the water heating and air conditioning could be reactivated aboard the 'Khosrov Bey' in the port of Oristano in afternoon of Aug 17. The ship has been seized in the port as part of a maritime lawsuit involving the Turkish shipowner. The donation allowed the 10 crew remaining on the ship to be able to reactivate on-board services, including air conditioning, refrigeration of food and heating of lavender water and thus restore acceptable livability and hygiene conditions. The situation had precipitated in the middle of last week due to the exhaustion of fuel and the substantial abandonment of the ship and its crew by the shipping company. Having received the availability of the oil company, the Port Authority of Oristano also took action to ensure the presence of a team of the Fire Brigade of the provincial Command, through the intervention of the Prefecture which, sharing the initiative, coordinated the operation.
