Ferry suffered hydraulic leak

Mon May 18 22:53:33 CEST 2026 Timsen

Due to the ongoing generator and hydraulic issue affecting the 'Loch Ranza', serving on the route Tayinloan-Gigha, all sailings of the ferry remained liable to disruption or cancellation at short notice actually extending to May 18. Until May 31 the 'Loch Linnhe' was inserted to operate this service from the 2:00 p.m. sailing departing Tayinloan on May 18, in order to allow the 'Loch Ranza' to be removed from service for essential repairs due to the hydraulic leakage.

Sailings cancelled due to ramp issue

Fri May 08 13:40:50 CEST 2026 Timsen

The 'Loch Ranza', serving on the route Tayinloan-Gigha, suffered a technical issue with the aft ramp on May 7. As a consequence, the vessel initally had to operate single ended until further notice. Vehicles were required to reverse on to the vessel at the ports of Tayinloan and Gigha. Later, the departures at 09:00 a.m. from Gigha and at 09:30 from Tayinloan were cancelled. To allow contractors to investigate and carry out repairs on the aft ramp, sailings from 11:00 a.m. onwards were at heightened risk of disruption or cancellation at short notice.
