Thu Feb 16 09:31:33 CET 2012 Timsen

In the night of Feb 14, 2012, around 10 p.m. the "Milagro" allided with the grain loader 3 at the Guaruja Grain Terminals in Santos, Brazil. The "Milagro" was attempting to maneuver to the terminal with the aid of two tugs when the wing of the "Milagro"’s bridge struck the grain loader. The freighter suffered damage to its port side bridge and lower deck. The grain loader 4 was totally destroyed and toppled into the water. Grain loader Nr. 3 was also slightly damaged. No reports of injuries. The grain terminal had to shut down all opperations and has not stated when it would be up and running again. The terminal has the capacity to load 1,500 tons of corn or soybeans into the holds of ships. The "Milagro" remained anchored off the port before proceeding to Barra de Santos for repairs. Emergency reepairs were expected to take three days, and then the ship was to return to TGG to load a cargo of 65000 tons soy beans. Permanent repairs will be carried out in China. The Santos Port authorities conducted an investigation into the incident.
