MSC Euribia to start cruising again from Kiel this week

Tue May 12 19:35:30 CEST 2026 Timsen

The 'MSC Euribia' is scheduled to pass Skagen on May 13 and arrive in Kiel at the Ostsee Quay on May 14 at around 8:00 a.m., preparations for its departure will begin. Trucks carrying provisions and equipment have been scheduled to arrive at the ship. Additionally, more crew members were expected to join the vessel. The ship is being prepared for full operational service; the first guests will be welcomed aboard for the new season's inaugural cruise, which sets sail from Kiel on May 16 and from Copenhagen on May 17. The ship had already taken on a portion of its equipment during a stopover in Malta earlier in May. The crew of the 'MSC Euribia' has until the evening of May 15 to complete the outfitting process. Once the 'Costa Diadema' has vacated Berth 1 at the East Bank Port, the 'MSC Euribia' is scheduled to move to Kiel-Dietrichsdorf. There, the first passengers since late February will once again board the ship and move into their cabins. On May 16, the 'MSC Euribia' will officially launch its summer cruise program—running through the autumn from in Kiel. . Originally, the ship was scheduled to begin its voyage to Kiel as early as April 4. However, due to delays caused by the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, two scheduled cruises from Kiel had to be cancelled. Passengers who had planned to sail to Norway aboard the 'MSC Euribia' on May 2 or May 9 were offered compensation. This coming winter, the 'MSC Euribia' will sail in the Mediterranean rather than heading to the Middle East. On Oct 10, the ship will set course from Kiel for Barcelona and Marseille. The voyages in the Persian Gulf were originally scheduled to be undertaken by the 'MSC World Europa', however, due to the situation in the region, all MSC Cruises voyages in the area have been cancelled for the time being.

MSC Euribia on its way to Kiel to resume operations

Thu May 07 11:17:45 CEST 2026 Timsen

After a week-long stopover in Malta, the 'MSC Euribia' left Valletta on the evening of May 5 and set course for Kiel with an ETA as of May 14. Cruise operations were planned to resume on May 16. In Malta, preparations were made for the restart of cruise operations. The crew size was significantly increased, and supplies were brought on board. During the eight-day-voyage to Kiel, the crew will make further preparations for passenger service. In Kiel, the ship will initially be berthed at the Ostsee Quay from the morning of May 14 until the evening of May 15, as its usual berth in the East Bank Port is occupied by the 'Costa Diadem' on May 15. After the 'Costa Diadema' has departed Kiel, the 'MSC Euribia' will be moved to the East Bank Port, where the first guests will board on May 16. During the 2026 summer season, the 'MSC Euribia' will operate one-week itineraries to destinations in the Norwegian fjords, departing from and returning to Kiel and Copenhagen. Following this, a Western Europe cruise will take place in the western Mediterranean during the winter season.

Cruise ships resuming their schedules in May

Tue Apr 21 10:39:40 CEST 2026 Timsen

On May 15, the 'Mein Schiff 5' will begin its summer season in the Eastern Mediterranean from Heraklion. On May 17, the 'Mein Schiff 4'Ä will commence operations in Trieste,, where it will be based for Adriatic cruises. Given that the voyage south around Africa takes over three weeks and also requires logistical stops, the schedule for the two TUI Cruises ships was relatively tight. The 'MSC Euribia', operated by MSC Cruises, still has a long journey ahead before it begins operations in Kiel on May 16. The ship will then start its summer season two weeks late, sailing a route to the Norwegian fjords from/to Kiel and Copenhagen. Celestyal Cruises was currently repositioning both its ships from the Middle East to the Mediterranean. Since they have switched off their AIS, it was impossible to determine whether the ships were being transferred through the Red Sea and the Suez Canal or south around Africa. The Suez Canal was last listed as the destination for the 'Celestyal Discovery', while the 'Celestyal Journey' appeared to be heading for Cape Town. All currently bookable voyages were to be operated. This would mean that the 'Celestyal Discovery' should commence operations on May 22, in Lavrion, and the 'Celestyal Journey' on May 23 in Piraeus. The last of the six cruise ships to leave the Persian Gulf was the 'Aroya,' operated by the Saudi cruise line Aroya Cruises. It was expected to arrive in Jeddah on April 27,. Before that, the ship faces another challenging passage along the Yemeni coast. If all goes according to plan, the 'Aroya' will welcome its next guests in the port of Jeddah on May 14,. Cruise ship launch dates at a glance: - May 14, 2026: Aroya (Aroya Cruises) in Jeddah; - May 15, 2026: Mein Schiff 5 (TUI Cruises) in Heraklion; - May 16, 2026: MSC Euribia (MSC Cruises) in Kiel; - May 17, 2026: Mein Schiff 4 (TUI Cruises) in Trieste; - May 22, 2026: Celestyal Discovery in Lavrion/Athens; - May 23, 2026: Celestyal Journey in Piraeus/Athens.
