Forgotten hose caused water ingress

Wed Jul 26 18:13:24 CEST 2017 Timsen

Aftr more than 20 tons water were pumped out of the foreship of the "Nawa 10" and disposed of in an environmental correct manner, a diver inspected the hull of the "Nawa 10". He was, however, unable to find a lieak. In fact the water ingress had been caused from a forgotten and unremarked hose from the anchor eye inside the ship. When it was loaded with coal, water started leaking through the hose. The ship was allowed to continue to its destination Hanover.

Barge suffered water ingress near Dorsten

Mon Jul 24 18:30:30 CEST 2017 Timsen

The "Nawa 10", 1099 ts (EU-No.: 08348100), coming from the Dortmund-Ems-Canal, suffered water ingress on July 24, 2017, around 1 p.m. on the Mittelland-Canal enroute from Dorsten towards Minden, where she had sailed short past noon. The ship which was carrying a cargo of coal was threatened to sink and berthed in Bohmte-Leckermühle. The fire rescue Herringhausen wwas alerted and dewatered the ship with pumps. A diver company from Hille was called to locate the leak. Representants of the Osnabrück municipality as well as the water police, the Red Cross and the canal authority attended the ship. The situation could be brought under control in the afternoon.
