Three persons in the water due to broken jib-net

Mon May 02 10:55:46 CEST 2016 Timsen

Three persons aboard the "Niets Bestendig" fell into the water on the Markermeer near Warder, on May 1, 2016, at 3.15 p.m. The jib-net was broken sending them into the water. One of the people got under the ship. The crew of the clipper immediately performed a man-overboard maneuver. Two people were rescued from the water at once, the third was more difficult to pick oup and spent more than five minutes in the water. Lifeboats from Wijdenes, Horn and Warder responded to the distress call. The lifeboat from Warder and Wijdenes were first on the scene, followed by the lifeboat from Hoorn. First aid was granted to the hypothermic persons who were quickly wrapped in foil and hypothermia blankets to warm up. The clipper headed to Hoorn dangers where the ambulance service was ready to check the three victims. The police also came on board to make an official report of the incident. Two of the rescued were taken to the hospital in Hoorn. After a check in the Westfries Hospital they could quickly be released again.
