Allision in Vancouver

The "Oosterdam" allided with the docked "Nieuw Amsterdam" near Canada Place in Vancouver on the morning of May 4, 2019, around 6:30 a.m. when the "Oosterdam" was approachiong its berth. No one was injured and the ships sustained minor damag. Passengers felt a jolt and heard loud scraping. Then the captain of the "Nieuw Amsterdam" came on the speaker and he said ‘Evacuate the stern of the ship.' The "Oosterdam" hit the starboard side of her ship and came to a stop against the dock. No injuries or pollution were reported. Transport Canada worked with the cruise line, Holland America, to assess the damage. Six aft stateroom verandas on the "Nieuw Amsterdam" were damaged in the incident, but the seaworthiness of the ships has not been affected. All the repairs required were above the waterline, and both cruises would embark on schedule. The "Nieuw Amsterdam" was due to departi on a seven day cruise to Alaska on May 4, and the "Oosterdam" will be headed to Seattle. Medevac near Ketchikan

The US Coasstguard medevaced a woman from the "Nieuw Amsterdam" near Ketchikan on Sep 13, 2018. Watchstanders in the Coast Guard Sector Juneau command center received the request for the medevac from the cruise ship at 9 p.m. A 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew from the Coast Guard Station Ketchikan met up with the cruise ship in Revillagigado Channel where the patient, her husband and a medical attendant were brought aboard. The 71-year-old passenger displaying stroke symptoms was taken to awaiting EMS in Bar Harbor, Ketchikan. The Coast Guard boat crew and transported to shore.

Grounding in Santa Cruz Huatulco

The "Nieuw Amsterdam" ran aground on Oct 10, 2017, at Santa Cruz Huatulco, after her moorings broke in stormy weather. The passangers were offered to move to hotels for one night, while the ship underwent an inspection and was allowed to resume voyage as a result. She left Santa Cruz in the evening of Oct 10 and headed to Puerto Chiapas.
