Fishing vessel rescued two colleagues

Tue May 12 10:42:36 CEST 2020 Timsen

On May 11, 2020, the Spanish longliner ‘Isla Sable Dos‘ suffered water ingress NNW of Llanes. The crew activated the EPIRB at 3.57 a.m. and abandoned ship into a liferaft. During the following SAR operation which involved several other fishing vessels in the area, the ‘Nuevo San Mateo‘ located the raft and took the castaways on board unscathed. After the arrival of the SAR boat ‘Sant Carles‘ (MMSI:224093950) of the Salvamento Marítimo station in Llanes they were transferred aboard and taken back to Llanes. The lifeboat returned and searched the sinking position of the 11-m-vessel from Moaña without finding debris or contaminations.
