Speed boat ran into Hurtigruten ferry
No one was injured when the "Øyglimt" collided with the Hurtigruten ferry "Lofoten" in the morning of Jan 7, 2015. There were 86 passengers and a crew of 39 on board the "Lofoten" when the collision happened at hat 8.30 a.m. off Måløy in Sogn og Fjordane. The skipper of the speed boat was alone and taking on the blame for what happened. He admitted to have been inattentive and watching a boat that passed on the other side. He was only able to reduce speed thus reducing the impact. The "Øyglimt" suffered some damage above the waterline. Fire in wheelhouse quickly contained
On Oct 29, 2014, a 07.16 a.m. the police in Sogn/Fjordane was notified about a fire on the "Øyglimt" which had just docked at the express terminal in Maloy/Vågsøy. There were three crew members but no passengers on board when the fire started. The crew managed to extinguish the fire in the electrical system of the wheelhouse without external assistance. The fire department, ambulance and police proceeded to the quay. The ferry crew was medically checked due to suspected smoke inhalation.
