Bridge damaged in allision

Fri Dec 12 20:42:11 CET 2014 Timsen

After the allision of the German tug „Paula“, 97 ts (EU-No.: 04802120), of the Ed Line GmbH jointly with the 15-meter-head barge "Ed Bull“ (EU-No.: 04030860) and the roro barge „Ursus“, 1200 ts (EU-No.: 04810440) with a freeway bridge on the Southern Elbe all ships were underway to Regensburg, where the severe damage at the "Ursus" was to be repaired in a yard. Also the bridge was damaged on a length of 15 meters and had to be barred for traffic partially. Repairs will take several weeks, causing queues as trucks were no longer allowed to pass. The accident happened in Harburg in the morning of Ded 11, 2014. Both the "Ursus" and the bridge were damaged, vehicle traffic on the freeway A1 was significantly hampered. The tug master had misjudged the height of the building. On Dec 12 the bridge was inspected, and the Southern Elbe was barred for ship traffic between 7 and 10 a.m. The construction was found damaged on a length of 15 meters and needed extensive repairs, causing traffic disruptions in the southern direction. The "Paula" with its barges berthed in Scharnebeck on Dec 12 at 6.15 p.m. and was enroute to a repair yard in Bavaria.
