Hundreds of migrants rescued in Strait of Pas-de-Calais
In the night of Oct 8, 2022, the CROSS Gris-Nez identified several boats in difficulty in the Strait of Pas-de-Calais. Operations continued on OCt 9. The lifeboat 'SNS 087-Jean Bart II' from the SNSM station in Dunkirk was engaged twice. Once off Leffrinckoucke to rescue a boat in difficulty with 52 people on board, then a second time off Dunkirk to rescue 45 shipwrecked people. Once taken care of on board the 'Jean Bart II', the castaways were dropped off at the port of Dunkirk. The PSP 'Flamant' was engaged three times off the Pas-de-Calais area to assist three boats in difficulty with 68, 53 and 37 people on board. Once taken care of on board the 'Flamant', the castaways were dropped off at the port of Calais. The lifeboat 'SNS 077-Notre-Dame-du-Risban' from the SNSM station in Calais was deployed off the Dyck area to assist a boat in difficulty with 68 people on board. Once taken care of on board the 'Notre-Dame-du-Risban', the castaways were dropped off at the port of Calais. The PCG 'Athos' was engaged off Boulogne-sur-mer to rescue 44 people. Once recovered on board the 'Athos', the castaways were dropped off at the port of Boulogne-sur-mer.
42 boat people rescued off Leffrinckoucke
In the evening of Sep 23, the CROSS Gris-Nez was informed about a boat in difficulty off Leffrinckoucke. After assessing the situation, the CROSS deployed the CG 'Athos' and the lifeboat 'Notre-Dame-Du-Risban (SNS 077)' from the SNSM station in Calais to rescue the 42 people aboard the drifting boat. After being taken care of by the PCG 'Athos' and the SNSM boat, the castaways were disembarked at the port of Calais where they were taken care of by the border police and the departmental fire and rescue service.
46 boat people rescued in Strait of Pas de Calais
In the night of Sep 21, 2022, the CROSS Gris-Nez identified several boats in difficulty in the Strait of Pas-de-Calais. The PCG 'Athos' was deployed off Leffrinckoucke to rescue 39 people. Once recovered on board the patrol boat, the castaways were dropped off at the port of Dunkirk. The lifeboat 'SNS 076-President Jacques Huret' of the SNSM station in Boulogne-sur-mer was engaged off Portel to rescue seven migrants aboard a boat. They were dropped off at the port of Boulogne-sur-mer, where they were taken care of by the departmental fire and rescue service and the border police.
