Allision in Groningen

Fri Jul 26 10:49:38 CEST 2019 Timsen

The Van Starkenborgh canal at the Oosterhamrik route in Groningen was blocked after the "Prisa", 2912 ts (EU-No.: 02212395), which had sailed from Lelystad on July 25, slammed into a bridge on July 26, 2019, at 3 a.m. The accident initially also blocked the bus lane across the bridge. Due to the impact, the containers on the deck were pushed astern and badly damaged the wheelhouse. Rijkswaterstaat launched an investigation. The ship was removed from the bridge around 8.30 a.m. and berthed at the MCS Terminal in Foxhol at 9 a.m. so that ship traffic has resumed since. The buses also run again, albeit with some delay. No injuries were reported. The "Prisa" sailed again on July 27 at 2.40 a.m. and headed towards Rotterdam, where it arrived on July 28 at 11.45 a.m. Dutch reports with photos and video: https://www.oogtv.nl/2019/07/schade-aan-brug-valt-mee-boten-en-bussen-kunnen-er-weer-langs/ https://www.rtvnoord.nl/nieuws/211270/Schip-botst-tegen-brug-in-Stad-vaarweg-gestremd-update https://www.dvhn.nl/groningen/Containerschip-ramt-brug-over-Van-Starkenborghkanaal-24683586.html?harvest_referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2F https://www.transport-online.nl/site/105654/containerschip-prisa-vaart-tegen-brug-over-van-starkenborghkanaal-foto/ https://www.hartvannederland.nl/nieuws/112-van-nl/2019/containerschip-klem-onder-brug-groningen/ https://nos.nl/artikel/2295138-containerschip-urenlang-vast-onder-brug-in-groningen.html
