Freighter out of control
The "Lady Bo" suffered engine failure on June 15, 2018, at 1.30 p.m. and got out of control, approaching the western coast of the Bosphorus Strait and triggering fears of running into the embankment and buildings. The ship was transiting the strait in northern direction, en route from Istanbul to Novorossiysk. The tug "Kurtarma 1" of Kıyı Emniyeti managed to take the ship in tow and pulled it to Buyukdere Anchorage where it was moored in pos. 41° 9.43' N 029° 3.09' E where it was remaining by June 18. She arrived at Gebze on June 22 and berthed at the Solventas Teknik Depolama A.S. in Tavsancil. Since June 30 the ship was moored off Constanta. Unsafe ship detained in Oristano
On Dec 5, 2017, the "Lady Bo" has been detained in the port of Oristano with a crew of 17 people of different nationalities, mainly Azerbaijani and Ukrainians on board. Coast Guard technicians have ascertained several defiencies regarding safety on board. Two important safety devices in the engine room were not functioning, such as the oily water separator and the alarm for a possible fuel overflow on the main engine, which is very important to prevent the risk of fire on board. The main fire-fighting line was damaged. Moreover, the recors of hydrocarbons were incorrect. The ship had arrived in Oristano coming from Reni to unload about 5,000 tons of sunflower flour in pellets. She will only be released having restored the necessary conditions for safe navigation at sea.
