MEdevac off Port Aransas

The US Coast Guard medevaced a crewmember from the 'Richard Oldendorff on Feb 25, 2022, off Port Aransas, Texas. Coast Guard Sector/Air Station Corpus Christi command center watchstanders received a medevac request at 1:03 p.m. from the agent of the bulk carrier, stating a crewmember was suffering from a possible leg infection. Watchstanders consulted with the duty flight surgeon, who recommended a medevac. The Coast Guard Cutter 'Pelican' and a Coast Guard Station Port Aransas 45-foot Response Boat–Medium crew diverted to assist. The 'Pelican' took aboard the man and transferred him to the RB–M once it arrived on scene. The RM–M crew transported the crewmember to Seamans Wharf where emergency medical services personnel were waiting. EMS transported him to Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi – Shoreline in stable condition.

Fuel leak in engine room

The "Richard Oldendorff", en route from Puerto Drummond, Columbia to Gdansk with a crew of 22 on board, suffered a fuel leakage in the engine room 23 miles northeast of The Butt Of Lewis in position 58 43 42.6 N, 005 37 58.2 W, on March 5, 2019, at 9 a.m. A 30-minute communication with the Stornoway Coastguard was set up until the crew had fixed the leak. Repairs were completed at 09.40 a.m. and the ship, which was carrying 21.134 tonnes of coal, resumed its voyage towards Skagen, ETA March 7.

Oldendorff Carriers in alliance with Welhunt starts transhipment operation in Vietnam

On November 12, 2017 the Babycape “Richard Oldendorff” (118,532 tdw built 2011) arrived at the Go Gia buoys in South Vietnam with the largest ever bulk cargo to be discharged in Vietnam, Oldendorff said in its press release. The vessel berthed at the transhipment platform “Lena” with a cargo of about 115,000 mt, to unload a part cargo of 74,634 mt of coal into lighters for South Vietnam customers with restricted draft ports. After lightering in South Vietnam the “Richard Oldendorff” will proceed to Campha port in North Vietnam to discharge the remaining 40,000 mt of coal on-board. The Vietnam transhipment operation is an alliance between Welhunt, a commodity trader that is very active in coal trading in Vietnam. Oldendorff Carriers, who provide the ocean transportation, and Haivan Shipping Services Corporation (Haivanship) who is providing Vietnam domestic waterway transportation services. The alliance is set up to provide a safe, reliable and cost efficient bulk delivery service to power stations and industrial users in South Vietnam.
