Captain and rescue personnel died during medevac
The "WStar" issued a distress signal in the afternoon of Dec 5, 2018, aftter the Indonesian Captain became unconscious and showed mouth foam, requesting immediate medical assistance. The tanker was sailing in northern direction west of Pengjia Islet, Taiwan, north of Keelung, in the East China Sea, having sailed from Keelung on Dec 5. The Taiwanese Air Rescue sent a helicopter. While airlifting the Captain on board of helicopter in rough sea and strong wind, one or two personnel of the emergency team were injured, one of them later died in hospital. Understood but not confirmed, the Captain also died. The ship turned back and headed for Keelung.
