17 migrants rescued off Benidorm
On the night of Sep 12, a patrol boat of the Guardia Civil sighted a patera eight nautical miles from Benidorm and started escorting it. The RCC of Salvamento Marítimo in Valencia mobilized the Salvamar Leo' to assist, which headed to the position and rescued the 17 people who were on board. Three migrants rescued off Alicante, five more missing
On Sep 3, a migrant boat with three men aboard was located by a merchant ship 31 nautical miles southeast of Alicante. The CCS Valencia of Salvamento Marítimo deployed the 'Salvamar Leo' to the position, which rescued them and transferred them to Alicante, where they were attended by the Cruz Roja. One of the castaways was referred to the hospital. The rescued individuals indicated that there were initially eight people on the boat.
16 migrants rescued off Alicante
On Aug 22, the ferry 'Romantika', sailing between Bejaia and Alicante, spotted a fiberglass boat 80 kilometres southeast of Alicante. It remained in the area until the arrival of the SAR boat 'Salvamar Leo', mobilized by the CCS Valencia. 16 people, among them ten men, four women, and two minors) of sub-Saharan origin have been rescued.
