35 migrants rescued off Alicante

On Dec 12, the 'Salvamar Leo' has rescued 17 migrants of Maghreb origin, from a boat nine nautical miles from Alicante, and has taken them to port. Afterwards the SAR vessel headed towards another inflatable boat, located by a 37-ft-sailboat from Cabo de Palos, and rescued its 18 occupants, who were also taken to Alicante. 38 migrants rescued from two boats

The CCS Valencia of Salvamento Marítimoobilized the 'Salvamar Leo' in the night of Nov 19, after a Frontex plane notified it of two precarioous boats 3about 30,5 nautical miles east of Cartagena. The fishing vessel 'Cala Serena' went on standby until the 'Salvamar Leo' arrived on scene. The lifeboat rescued 20 sub-Saharans from one and 18 from the other boat. On Nov 20 at 7:50 a.m. the disembarkation in Alicante ended.

Nine migrants rescued, sailing yacht towed to Alicante

The 'Salvamar Leo' rescued nine North Africans, including one woman, one nautical mile southeast of Altea and transferred them to Alicante. The MRCC of Salvamento Marítimo in Valencia had mobilized the crew on Nov 15 at 6:14 a.m..They also towed the boat to port. The s/y 'Hippie' with two people on board asked for towing assistance 300 meters from the entrance to the port of Alicante a few hours later following a motor failure. Since there was no wind, they were left stranded. The CCS Valencia of Salvamento Marítimo mobilized the 'Salvamar Leo', which safely towed it into the port.
