Fishing vessel sank off Finistère
On May 28, 2019, at noon the "Saphir BR 787144", 9,84 gt. sank one mile off Lampaul-Plouarzel. The skipper was recovered safely. The SNSM boat "La Louve" from Conquet was alerted by the CROSS Corsen to locate and secure the sinking site. The skipper had been safely recovered by another vessel, the "Jean Cani", which was fishing nearby. The CROSS radioed an AVURNAV to warn shipping of the potential danger. The Maritime Gendarmerie opened an investigation to determine the causes of the sinking. The recovery of the wreck was the responsibility of the owner.
