Bulkcarrier grounded on the Seine

Thu Dec 12 11:40:00 CET 2019 Timsen

The 'Sea Eagle' ran aground on Dec 11, 2019, at 10.30 p.m. on the Seine, between Port-Jérôme-sur-Seine and Rives-en-Seine. The ship got stuck on the right river bank at the height of Saint-Maurice d'Etelan at Les Flacques and was stuck in pos. 49° 26.59' N 000° 38.32' E. The tug 'Capitaine Louis Thomas' was called to refloat the ship but failed. On Dec 12 at 7 a.m. a second tug from Rouen, the 'Penfret', arrived. The bulkcarrier was enroute to the port of Rouen, having arrived with a cargo of fertilizer from Ashod with a stop in La-Rochelle (La-Pallice), presenting a draft of 8.86 m at the wharf of Petit-Couronne. In the foremidday of Dec 12 the tugs 'Capitaine Jean Thomas', 'VB 16 Tornade' and 'RMT Penfret' had joined the ship, along with the utility boat 'Lalonde'. The first attempt which started at 10.15. a.m. in order to refloat the ship failed as the tide did not facilitate the manoever, and was to be repaeated in the night hours with the next flood. The ship was resting stable on sandy, flat bottom. At 7.15 p.m. the tug 'VB Octeville 11' (IMO: 9393709) left the port of Le Havre to support the salvage work along with the'VB St. Adresse 25' (IMO: 9202742). Two salvage attempt on Dec 12 failed. In the foremidday of Dec 13 at 10 a.m. the bulkcarrier was successfully refloated and headed to Rouen, escorted by the tugs 'RMT Penfret'(IMO: 9502702) and TSM Loch (MMSI: 227464770) to Rouen with an ETA as of 2 p.m. She left the port again on Dec 19 at 11.30 a.m. and headed to Amsterdam with an ETA as of Dec 20 at 6 p.m French reports with photos: https://www.paris-normandie.fr/actualites/faits-divers/en-images-un-navire-en-route-vers-rouen-s-echoue-en-seine-pres-de-port-jerome-MA16076921 https://france3-regions.francetvinfo.fr/normandie/seine-maritime/navire-echoue-amont-port-jerome-seine-76-1761851.html https://actu.fr/normandie/havre_76351/un-cargo-180-metres-long-echoue-dans-seine-entre-havre-rouen_30124119.html https://www.lecourriercauchois.fr/actualite-220459-saint-maurice-d-etelan-un-bateau-de-179-metres-en-mauvaise-posture https://france3-regions.francetvinfo.fr/normandie/seine-maritime/navire-echoue-amont-port-jerome-seine-76-1761851.html http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=3091394 http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=3091395
