Fire in South China Sea
The "Sinokor Qingdao", enroute from Gwangyang to Hong Kong with 18 crew members on board, ETA May 11, suffered a fire on board in the South China Sea, in pos. 24 26N, 119 08E, on May 8, 2018, at 8.20 p.m. Chinese rescue authorities co-ordinated the incident response and sent rescue vessels and helicopters to thescnee. At 10.30 p.m. the authorities stated that the fire had been extinguished. On May 11 at 6.30 a.m. the ship anchored off Hongkong and left port on May 12 at 2 a.m. bound to Huangpu, arriving there at 10.15 a.m. and sailing at 5.50 a.m. bound to Chiwan where it berthed at the Chiwan Harbour Container Terminal on May 14 at 5.30 a.m.
