Nine stowaways found in container
The crew of the "Stadt Dresden" found nine stowaways hidden in a container who supposedly boarded the ship at Casablanca, intending to get to Europe. After the container ship arrived at Piraeus anchorage on June 20, 2019, the authorities were duly informed on presence of illegal persons on board. The Greek Coast Guar interrogated the stowaways and found out, that they weren’t after Greece but planned to disembark in another European country. The next port of call will be Zeebrugge. The stowaways were provided food and water as well as medical supervision by a private physician. Two of them were transferred to a private clinic for medical care. The master informed the Port Authority that he was unable to keep the men on board. In the morning they were brought to the Security Department of the Piraeus Port Authority where they were arrested.
Fire damage being investigated
