Stena Line adds fourth ro-pax ferry to Sweden-Poland route
Stena Line added a fourth ro-pax ferry – Stena Nordica – to the route between Karlskrona, Sweden and Gdynia, Poland at the start of October to enable it to cater for the increase in freight and passenger traffic. Stena Nordica replaces the cargo vessel that previously operated on the route alongside ro-pax ferries Stena Baltica, Stena Spirit and Stena Vision. This allows Stena Line to offer four daily departures from each port, which totals a record 46 per week. “We have had strong growth in recent years, and we are still experiencing a strong demand for increased capacity from both freight customers and passengers,” said Marek Kiersnowski, trade director for Stena Line’s Sweden-Poland route.
Ferry shot at with flares
DFDS has decided to cancel all sailings between Calais and Dover until July 28, after the "Malo Seaways" was shot at by flares on July 25, 2015. One of the flares hat hit the ship. The incident was related to the conflict that has arisen because DFDS has taken over two ferries from the Eurotunnel ferry company MyFerryLink. Crossing between Dover and Calais have been interrupted for more than three weeks because employees have blocked the port of Calais. The employees are dissatisfied with the fact that DFDS's acquisition of the ferries is synonymous with job losses. The "Malo Seaways" docked in Dover at noon.
